Become The Sciatica Expert Your Patients NEED!
If you're a physical therapist who's frustrated or overwhelmed with acute low back pain & lumbar radiculopathy evals & management...
If you feel uncertain during those really acute LBP/sciatica evals where the patient can't even get comfortable, you're pressed for time, every exercise & position seems to hurt and flare their symptoms.
The patient has been to their doctor which was more frustrating than helpful, they've tried PT/chiro before with minimal long term results and now they're in your clinic seeing you.
This self paced online course will teach you how to confidently bring clarity & results to these patients even with a busy caseload.
This course is for you if...
✅ You're a Physical Therapist finding yourself thinking:
🤔 I need more treatment tools for my acute low back patients because nothing is sticking.
🤔 I need to get more creative with my treatment planning.
🤔 I feel like I'm missing something from my acute low back pain evals.
🤔 I feel like I'm constantly second guessing my treatment plan after my eval.
🤔 I've followed the clinical predication rules, but they're still not getting better... What am I missing?"
🤔 I'd like to be more concise & confident communicating the plan to my patients & my colleagues.
✅ You're a Physical Therapist who isn't looking for quick-fix acute low back pain gimmicks.
✅ You're a Physical Therapist who is passionate about acute low back pain rehab and you want to be known as the "go-to" clinician in your area who helps the community bounce back from acute low back pain episodes without creating a dependency.
✅ You're a Physical Therapist who is frustrated with and craving clarity from (what seems to be) the never ending war between pain neuroscience education (PNE)🧠 vs biomechanics 🦴 "camps" on social medial.
✅ You're a PT clinic owner interested in creating more continuity of care among your staff PTs and how acute low back pain patients are managed.
✅ You're a Physical Therapist who is new to the orthopedic setting, you know you'll be treating a lot of acute low back pain and you want to be the clinician who empowers their patients towards results without fear mongering.
✅ You're a Physical Therapist who is a little overwhelmed and intimidated by acute low back pain evals... from where to start, how to communicate to the patient, to how to document effectively & efficiently.

“I was able to implement these tools, tips and strategies and had tremendous immediate results with the "overwhelming" acute patient after even watching the first video and crushed it even after just module 1….
… The online platform was awesome! I have never seen this information even though I’ve been doing this for so long and I’ve taken a lot of con ed courses. The information out of this and the simplicity of how to implement it right away, is a game changer!”

"This course is amazing. Best class I've taken in such a long time."

The Origin Story: Why This? Why Now?
9 years ago I was minutes into an acute low back pain eval and I completely froze. I wanted to puke 🤢not because I was sick, but because I didn't know what to do.
I felt lost & confused trying to help a VERY anxious patient 😫 who could NOT get comfortable or sit because of raging sciatica... I didn't even start the eval yet 😧
How was this happening? How did I not know what to do? 🤔
I had just got back from a 9 month Neuro residency with a focus on pain science 🧠 AND I had taken several of the best con ed courses that our profession had to offer.
What was I missing? 🤔
I couldn’t stand the feeling of not being able to help a patient who was in agony right in front of me.
I thought to myself 💭
“REALLY!? After all that education, thousands of dollars on con ed courses, and a 9 month residency working 40 hours/week for $9/hour… and now you’re cognitively frozen in the middle of an eval!? Maybe you’re not cut out to be a PT who helps people with back pain?” 😰
I couldn’t tolerate that negative self talk anymore.
So finally, the immigrant entrepreneurial voice inside me said:
“There has to be a better way” 💪🏽
So I enrolled in a 2 year Orthopedic Fellowship⚕️ with my mentor Martin Langaas PT, FAAOMPT to study & practice Freddy M Kaltenborn's approach to orthopedic physical therapy 🦴
Through this 2 year training, Martin taught me frameworks & checklists to keep me calm & organized through these, sometimes, very stressful acute back pain evals with patients who could barely move.
I went from feeling anxious & confused to confident & excited for these evals because I had finally found a way to balance my pain neuroscience education (PNE) 🧠 and functional biomechanics 🦴 without overthinking it AND while empowering patients with an “ah-ha moment”!
The transformation was incredible! 🤯
Since my time with Martin 8 years ago I’ve been documenting ✍🏽 what has worked and what hasn’t worked for my patients.
I’ve been able to successfully apply this model to both in-person patients & consulting a few patients virtually 💻
I’ve been able to successfully apply these frameworks over the phone 📱 to a couple patients who called me unable to get off their living room floor, about to call an ambulance 🚑 because of their excruciating low back pain.
If it weren’t for these frameworks these patients would’ve ended up in a hospital 🏥, being prescribed an unnecessary amount of opioids with no answers at best 💊 or being told their anatomy doesn't look perfect on imaging 🩻, and they need surgery.
Speaking of hospitals 🏥, believe it or not, I've even been able to apply these frameworks in the acute care setting as well. At one point an attending physician stopped, watched me work with the patient, then took me to the side and thanked me 🙏🏽 because no one else on the medical team knew what to do with this guy who was screaming in agony laid up in the hospital bed.
Despite the fact that these frameworks aren't ideal for the productivity standards in the acute care setting... but that's besides the point 🤣
I’ve had the privilege to teach all of this to other extremely talented physical therapists both live AND virtually with amazing feedback that surprised me! 😯
How is this possible? 🤔
I promise this isn't just a sales pitch.... there are zero "quick fix" gimmicks or BS 💩 here 🙏🏽
HOW IS THIS COURSE DIFFERENT?
Unlike most back pain courses that claim to have "the answer" with fancy manual techniques or "the three exercises you're not doing for back pain”….
This course is focused 🎯 on identifying communicating and minimizing specific triggers in the patient's specific environment and day-to-day life.
Think of this course as “fertilizing the soil” for a healing environment ❤️🩹 before you drop exercise or manual therapy “seeds” 🌱
This is what I was missing before my OMT fellowship.
I had the pain science education 🧠, a lot of awesome exercise progressions, regression, and manual techniques…
But I was mistakenly dropping all of these powerful “seeds" before I “fertilized the soil” by setting up an appropriate healing environment to empower my patients to kick start their own recovery, take accountability for their plan of care, and their life!
I was mistakenly trying to be "their clinical hero & take their wheel" 🚗 rather than their guide 🧭 in the passenger seat make suggestions & recommendations.
I created this course so you don't have to make the same mistakes that I made over the years.
While making this course I kept thinking to myself:
“How can I create a course that I wish I had 8 years ago when I was anxious, confused and questioning my ability to effectively evaluate acute low back pain?” 🤔
I've been refining this content for the last 9 years, obsessively documenting ✍🏽what works and what doesn't for both my patients and other therapists’ patients so that it doesn’t have to take you as long as it took me to feel confident that you’re bringing your patients REAL value in your evals and plan of care.
If any of that 👆🏽describes you... This course & program is designed for you 🤓 👊🏽
This course is NOT for you if...
❌A Physical Therapist who is ONLY interested in learning new exercises & manual techniques.
❌ You're a Physical Therapist interested in bashing other systems/thought leaders for credibility, confrontation & entertainment 👎🏽 (there will be none of that here)
❌ You're a Physical Therapist interested in being "the research p-value police" 🚨
After this Online Course…
You'll walk away with even sharper clinical reasoning so you know exactly what to do to help your patient feel better and what not to do to avoid making them worse.
You'll be able to efficiently & concisely identify your patients triggers while communicating & documenting it in a way that sets the stage for better continuity of care and results.
This will help you take "it depends" out of your clinical reasoning so you can communicate what it actually depends on and exactly what not to do to minimize your patient's flare ups.
”This checklist helped me be more of a sniper instead of a cannon when diagnosing & treating mechanical low back pain.”
- Dr. Brett S. PT, DPT, USAW-1
What this online course will cover:
✅ How to stop the overwhelming pain science vs biomechanics drama with the "who’s right & who’s wrong?" non-sense.
✅ How to subcategorize the two main subtypes of mechanical low back pain (flexion & extension sensitivity) even further to make the diagnosis "non-specific low back pain" A LOT more specific.
✅ How to assess the interplay between key sensitivities (Position, Load, Neurodynamic sensitivities) without overthinking it & wasting time.
✅ How to interview the patient during the subjective exam without feeling scattered while developing rapport with the patient.
✅ How to find your own physical exam flow so you know exactly what tests to administer after the subjective without second guessing yourself.
✅ How to document the patients' specific triggers concisely and without fluff to optimize continuity of care.
✅ How to stop overthinking these evals & bullet proof yourself from paralysis by over-analysis.
✅ How to use a simple checklist so you can confidently communicate to your patient, improve buy-in, get better results, and reduce your cancellation rates.
✅ How to use a checklist that helps you ask yourself anchoring questions so you don't get lost & confused in the middle of the eval.
✅ Learn a system that actually helps you think through real cases, not just theoretical models.

What other Physical Therapists are saying...
This course gave me a greater toolkit for approaching low back pain. I appreciated Mez discussing client cases (even humbly mentioning his errors with patient cases and what the right steps were for correcting these errors). This made this topic more approachable, and normalized the experience of at times feeling overwhelmed by low back pain complexity. I previously did not give as much weight to patients' ergonomic setups and daily activities (or inactivity). This would have decreased the effectiveness of any exercise program, manual technique, or intervention. But because of this, I am able to dramatically decrease low back pain for patients even before "treating" them! If you’re on the fence, all I can say is, DO IT! Definitely worthwhile in learning a quick and easy to understand framework, and super helpful to learn about easy to implement environmental/ergonomic changes individuals can make for big results. Mez synthesizes intelligent approaches with physical therapy techniques with emotionally intelligent leadership with his patient stories, and embodies the art of skillfully coaching patients without overwhelming them with excess information.

This program gave so much structure to the acute LBP eval! It really helped me to categorize patients systematically while still thinking outside the box for individualized care. What I loved the most was the case studies that were used throughout the program. If you’re on the fence about this course you have to register today! This is one of the best continuing education courses I've ever taken (and I'm a con ed junkie)! I'm someone who used to stress out when I saw an acute low back pain eval on my schedule but now I feel so much more confident and am excited for them. The only question I’m left with is, why aren't they teaching this system in PT school?
- Dr. Rachel Jerozal PT, DPT - Founder of Durham Pelvic PT
"Regardless of how confident you feel in treating acute low back pain, you need this course. The value provided by Mez is unbelievable, and the content you have access to is immensely helpful in every possible scenario. Every uncomfortable or uncertain moment you have had when someone is wriggling in pain in your office, Mez has accounted for and covers it in this course. He gives you the playbook to troubleshoot with objectivity rather than guesswork so you can get your patients on the right track faster. We dive deep into specific patient presentations from Mez’s clinical experience. Mez brings a level of passion that is special, and having access to the years worth of work he’s done and knowledge he’s acquired should not be passed up. Sign up."

This course gave me an excellent road map and helped my brain not jump all over the place when someone who has acute back pain comes in the door. Instead of just thinking "AH PRONE EXTENSIONS", it actually helped me ask the right questions, which further helped guide me in what to do on my objective exam. I panic a LOT less, which is amazing. AND I have a lot more confidence when talking with my clients about realistic expectations with their back pain. Even has someone who has been practicing for 9 years, it was so incredibly refreshing to have an instructor who was caring, compassionate, a clear speaker, an expert in the field, and somehow gracefully is capable of blending the art and science of acute low back pain. Mez, truly, your course is SO great. It was so refreshing to have someone remind me that you don't have to be all or nothing. And acute back pain WAS a weak point of mine. Having the online course as a resource that I can refer to, go over, and hone in on, is EVERYTHING. Thank you for being such a brilliant teacher. Your vibe, how you speak, and how you present, it really resonates with me."
- Dr. Kayla Nguyen PT, DPT owner of Rise Physio & Performance
This program has completely changed how I assess, plan for, and treat my patients. I have found that having the course visuals is a game changer for patient education. I have found that removing their triggers on day one gets immediate buy-in. Breaking down each situation (trigger) has been a game changer for patient education and how they are thinking for themselves. It has given be a HUGE new group of tools to add to my tool box. I loved the simplicity of the strategies and explanations that were very successful. The online platform was awesome for me to watch one time through, take notes and then hear it again, I was able to digest much more info the second time. I like having the online videos & reference that I can look back on at any time. I was able to implement the tools, tips and strategies and had tremendous immediate results with the "overwhelming" acute patient after even watching the first video and crushed it even after just 1 week. I was able to be calm, grounded and more relaxed for the patient during their high stress feeling when they were in a lot of pain. I received my moneys worth/ value in the first week out of the 8 weeks. I loved the course, one of the best ones ever!!"

"I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to put skills you already have into a model that works better for you."
- Dr. Nate Felton PT, DPT
"Before this course, I was at a loss with these REALLY acute low back pain patients because everything hurt... Typically I'd end up referring them out. But when imaging came back negative, I would chalk it up to "pain science" when our PT sessions 'caused a flare up'... This content has helped me understand why & filled in those gaps beautifully."
